The web has grown phenomenally since HTML was first released publicly in 1993. As the web grew and companies saw its potential browsers came along with more and better capabilities. Dominant was Netscape but along came Microsoft to blow them out of the water. These 'wars' left the web in a bit of a mess with browser specific code everywhere. Microsoft's Internet explorer itself has degenerated due to its lack of updates, its new version 7 browser has only barely caught up with the old version of Firefox which was released in 2004. All of these things make coding (and especially, coding well) for the web much more complicated than it really should be. So what can we do about it?
